The Selection

Kiera Cass. My oh my. You’ve done it again.

I read The Selection by Kiera Cass near the end of February this year, and I am still thinking about the story line, the beautiful cover, and the fact that I rated it, without a doubt, 5 out of 5 stars. Heck. I would have given it 10 out of 5 stars if I could have. Sadly, Goodreads only allows its’ users to rate books, no matter the quality of it, out of 5 stars. (If you don’t already have Goodreads, you should create an account now!)

The Selection is a dystopian, futuristic style story, based around 17 year old America Singer. She is selected to participate in a ‘Bachelor style’ competition, along with 34 other girls. The winner will marry Maxon Shreave, the gorgeous prince and future king of Ilèa. To win this competition, the girls must win the heart of Maxon, and every girl in the country is already in love with him, but America, it is a little bit harder. She already has a secret boyfriend back home. To leave him, her family and everything back home, for who knows how long, will be hard for her.

Even though America is not trying to win the heart of the prince, but she does need to play nice with the other contestants, and the King and Queen. America is not in the competition for the fame and love, but for the money and support that it will bring for her family.

I love this book. I found that even though when I read it, I was a very slow reader, I still got through it very fast, and was already moving onto the next book in The Selection Series (The Elite). Before I knew it, I was excitedly anticipating the arrival of The Heir, the 4th novel in the series.

I found Kiera Cass has such techniques in her writing, that i actually had to ponder over sentences, and truly admire the writing in which she took so much time in doing. Check out Epic Reads for some dramatic readings by Kiera Cass!!

Kiera Cass, you have yet to disappoint me!
